The objective of this thesis was to know the importance of cervicometry as an indicator in the work of preterm births in pregnant women attended at the II-1 Rioja hospital, from January 2019 to December 2020. The research was of an applicative, analytical type, not descriptive, observational, retrospective, cross-sectional and correlational experimental. The sample consisted of 100 medical records of pregnant women with preterm delivery. Direct observation and the data sheet were used as the data collection technique and instrument, respectively. The results showed that 67% (67) belonged to the age range between 20 to 34, 16% were younger than 19 years and 17% were older than 34 years. Likewise, the mean age was 26.79 years. 57% were multiparous, 29% were primiparous, and finally, 14% were great multiparous. In 51% (51) of the patients a cervicometry value equal to 15 mm was obtained, in 31% (31) a value of 18 mm was obtained, in 17% (17) a value of 20 mm was obtained, and finally in 1% (1) a value equal to 25 mm was obtained. It was concluded that there is an association between cervicometry and preterm deliveries. In addition, by means of the Cramer's V test, it was shown that the importance of cervicometry is positive mean, finding a value equal to 0.672 and a level of significance equal to 0.000 less than the margin of error allowed 0.05.
