The objective of the present thesis was to determine the diagnostic efficacy value of the Pediatric Appendicitis Score (PAS) scale in the detection of acute appendicitis in patients from 4 to 14 years old at Hospital II-2 Tarapoto, from 2017 to 2020. This was a basic research, with a retrospective observational descriptive level and non-experimental cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 130 cases of patients from 4 to 14 years old with a diagnosis of acute appendicitis hospitalized in the Surgery Service of the II-2 MINSA Hospital Tarapoto. Direct observation and the data sheet were used as data collection technique and instrument, respectively. The results showed that 43.8 % of the patients belonged to the age range of 11 to 14 years. The 56.2 % were male and 57.7 % came from a rural area. High risk of appendicitis was found in 94.6 %, only 5.4 % present an intermediate risk and no cases were found to be low risk. The sensitivity of the PAS scale was 39%. The specificity was 99%. The positive predictive value was 95 %, while the negative predictive value was 72 %. There is a significant relationship between the diagnostic efficacy of the Pediatric Appendicitis Score (PAS) scale and the confirmation of acute appendicitis according to pathological anatomy. It was concluded that, the Pediatric Appendicitis Score (PAS) scale is 91 % effective in detecting acute appendicitis in patients aged between 4 and 14 years at Hospital II-2 Tarapoto, from 2017 to 2020.
