Satellite images with physiographic characteristics were used for the study of the native community of Chirikyacu in the province of Lamas de San Martín. The objective was to identify, quantify, classify and define the characteristics of the different varieties of forest types in the geographical area. The information was analyzed through observation and interpretation of satellite data. As a result, 6 sections of pure forest were deciphered in contemplation of an area classified as non-forest or deforestation. During the analysis it was observed that the humid forest of low mountains with steep slopes has a greater presence in surface area, approximately 1323.57 Ha (26.46%), those with high mountains and considerably steep slopes cover 1084.54 Ha (21.68%), those with high mountains and very steep slopes cover 872.402 Ha (17.44%), those with low terraces with flooding characteristics cover 204.825 Ha (10.22%), and those with high mountains and very steep slopes cover 721,619 Ha (14.42%). The forests with the smallest surface area are: humid forest of mountain valleys with 175,735 Ha (3.51%), forest with low mountains with steep slopes 160,868 Ha (3.22%). The areas that were classified as non-forest or deforested occupied a surface area of 664,24 Ha (13.28%) of the total area observed.
