The present research had as objective "To determine the impact of mental health on sexual and reproductive risk behaviors in inmates of the Pampas de Sananguillo Penitentiary Establishment; August to December 2018". A quantitative descriptive correlational study was conducted, with prospective data collection; the population and sample consisted of 36 women deprived of their liberty, who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria; the technique used was a survey with closed questions (dichotomous and polytomous) to determine the impact of mental health on sexual and reproductive risk behaviors. Results: 50.0% belong to the group between 35 and 50 years of age; 61.1% are residents of the province of San Martín; 47.2% are single; 41.7% are housewives; 19.4% are unemployed; 58.3% have a high school education; 80.6% have low family income; 36.1% have the support of other family members; and 38.9% do not have health insurance. In terms of mental health status, they have a high level of anxiety: 77.8% have a high level of state anxiety; 83.3% have a high trait anxiety level. In the evaluation of depression: 22.2% in equal percentage, present moderate neurotic medium and high depression respectively. 88.9% have severe sexual risk behaviors; 77.8% have severe reproductive risk behaviors. The mental health status with the greatest impact on sexual and reproductive risk behaviors are: sexual risk behaviors: anxiety as a state and sexual risk behaviors. Reproductive risk behaviors: depression and reproductive risk behaviors. Conclusion: Mental health status has a significant impact on sexual and reproductive risk behaviors in women deprived of their liberty at Las Lomas de Sananguillo Penitentiary in the San Martín Region: state anxiety and sexual risk behaviors (p-value=0.013); trait anxiety and sexual risk behaviors (p-value=0.014; and depression and reproductive risk (p-value=0.045). These results lead to the acceptance of the research hypothesis.
