This research was conducted in the laboratory of plant tissue culture company G y G Corporation EIRL with the objective of developing a protocol for in vitro culture to propagate the species Cattleya rex (Orchidaceae) from explants, using temporary immersion system (RITA), employing four treatment which treatment 0 (T0) was composed of sugar (20g L-1) . Complex B (3 mlL-1), foliar fertilizer (Bayfolan 11-8-6, 7, 1 mlL-1), for treatment 1 (T1) 10% coconut water were added, for treatment 2 (T2) 15% coconut water and treatment 3 (T3) 20% coconut water. For temporary immersion system a total of 32 bottles 1000 ml capacity were used. We worked with significance level (p ≤0, 05). It was applied an immersion time of 10 minutes every 6 hours, 4 dives /day, with 40 ml medium per explants. One month after the experiment number of shoots, height of shoot and the number of roots were evaluated, of which the best treatment was the treatment 1 with an average number of outbreak 2,95 outbreaks, with an average height of 0,53 cm and and averaging 1,77 roots.. The cost of each culture medium for the research were taken, they represent the 4 treatments, these data show that the production costs of the in vitro cultivation of the species Cattleya rex are not expensive as the following research showed that costs can be reduced using home supplies that can be found locally.
