The objective of the study entitled "Efficiency of public spending and quality of life in the districts of the province of San Martin" was to determine the relationship between the efficiency of public spending and the quality of life in the districts of the province of San Martin. The methodology was correlational, with a non-experimental and cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of the documentary collection from 2012 to 2015, collected by the documentary analysis technique with the documentary analysis guide as instrument. The results were that, for the period 2012 the expenditure execution reached 66.4%, this was due to the non-compliance with the acquisition of goods for the institutional operation and fulfillment of the functions and in 2015 it amounted to 67.5%, this mainly due to the lack of current expenditure of goods and services. Whereas the quality level had an inconsistent trend, given that in the 2013 period the variation was 38.73%, to finally register a drop to -26.77%, this due to the fact that in the 2015 period the attention to sanitation, education and housing and urban development services was reduced. The conclusion was that the efficiency of public spending is very strongly positively related to the quality of life in the districts of the province of San Martin, since the Sig. (bilateral) 0.010 was less than 0.05 and the value of Pearson's correlation coefficient was 0.990.
