Fibromyalgia is a common and complex clinical syndrome characterized by chronic and generalized musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, sleep disorders and physical and psychological deterioration. The symptomatology itself affects the functionality of the person and the quality of life related to personal and social health, generating a disability in the family and work environment. Objective: To determine the impact of fibromyalgia on the quality of life in the dimensions of functional capacity, work capacity and severity of the clinical picture in people who attended the Hospital II-2 Tarapoto during the year 2022. Materials and methods: The study design is of a basic quantitative type, with a cross-sectional descriptive level, the population size consisted of 44 patients, with a sample of 30 patients. The data collection form and the fibromyalgia impact questionnaire (FIQ) were used in the form of a survey. Results: Of the 30 patients interviewed, 93.34% (28 people) have a moderate and severe impact on their functional capacity and, therefore, a worse quality of life. Functional capacity is assessed by activities of daily living during the previous week, showing that shopping, washing and drying clothes, preparing food, mopping or vacuuming, walking and visiting friends or relatives are the most affected activities generating a negative impact on quality of life. The impact of fibromyalgia on work capacity shows that 86.67% (26 persons) cannot perform their usual work between 1 to 3 days of the week; in addition, 73.33% of patients show a difficulty of 7-9/10 to perform a job. As for the severity of the clinical picture, 83.33% of the people only feel well between 0 to 2 days of the week, because the somatic and emotional symptoms have higher scores of 8-10/10 of intensity or severity. In the sociodemographic data it was found that 96.67% (29 people) were female, 100% lived in urban areas, and 80% of the people are workers. Conclusions: It was determined that 93.34% of patients with fibromyalgia present a moderate to severe impact on their quality of life due to this pathology, where physical functionality is very compromised, limiting their activities of daily living; this is caused by the intensity of the clinical picture that reach high scores of 8-10/10 in most patients. Adult women are the most affected by this pathology.
