The objective was to characterize the bacterial population of the soil in a tropical humid forest of San Martín. The Population comprises the “La Biodiversidad” area 505,000m2 in three plots of 10,000 m2 The soil samples were prepared for metagenomic DNA extraction according to the Quick-Start Protocol DNeasy PowerLyzer Powersoil Kit (Qiagen N.V., 2016). The presence and quality of DNA was verified by electrophoresis according to (Mancilla, 2019); The sequencing was carried out using the MiSeq Reagent Nano Kit v2 method (Illumina Inc., 2018), in Fisabio, Valencia - Spain, the data analysis was made in the Kraken Metagenomics Base Space platform, Illumina, which allowed obtaining Operational Taxonomic Units. The taxonomic categories identified were 218 genera of bacteria belonging to 30 different phyllotypes, the most dominant being the Acidobacteria phyllotype, 47 classes and 106 families. It is concluded that the characteristics of bacterial diversity are similar in the total of genera per sample; the soil comes to populate bacteria that have not yet been described or the functions they perform and the comparison of the elevational level libraries shows statistically that they do not present significant differences. The important bacterial diversity found suggests specific studies in unidentified bacterial population, as well as; of important specialties for the industry, preservation and supply of strains for various purposes (research, teaching, biotechnological applications, etc.).
