In order to evaluate the effect of Barbasco (Lonchocarpus utilis) in the control of Hypsipyla grandella Zéller in juvenile mahogany plantations (Swietenia macrophylla King), a trial was installed under a Design of Completely Randomized Blocks (DBCA), with 03 blocks and 05 treatments formed by the association of mahogany and barbasco plants, the application of root and leaf extracts of said biocidal plant. Established in different treatments: T1 (Control): mahogany alone, T2: Mahogany + Barbasco, T3: Mahogany + Barbasco veneered, T4: Mahogany + Leaf extract and T5: Mahogany + Root extract. The evaluation variables were considered percentage of attack (%), number of attacks, depth of caves, and survival of larvae and position of attack. To verify the effect of the treatments, the analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed and to find out the differences according to the nature of the treatments, multiple comparisons of means were made, where it was observed that treatment 4 presented 0% attack of H. grandella compared to the other treatments (T5 = 7,78%, T2 = 11,11%, T3 = 20% and T1 = 62,22) showing that the treatments have a statistically significant difference (p <0,05). It is concluded that the foliar extract and root extract at 40% concentration significantly reduces the percentage of attack of H. grandella in mahogany plants, due to the concentrations of rotenone and insecticide substances in its leaves and roots, considering that it is economical and feasible technique in the control of the pest.
