Heavy metals found in high concentrations in the soil are a matter of great concern. The general objective was to evaluate the efficiency of compost and vermicompost in the removal of cadmium (Cd) in agricultural soils in the village of Cohechan, district of Conila, Luya. The experiment was set up using a RCBD in an area of 153.6 m2 with 5 treatments (T0: control, T1: 3 kg of vermicompost/experimental unit, T2: 6 kg of vermicompost/experimental unit, T3: 3 kg of compost/experimental unit and T4: 6 kg of compost/experimental unit) and 3 replicates. Initial sampling of cadmium concentration was performed. Subsequently, the respective applications were made according to the treatments and 90 days later, 15 soil samples of 400 g used to determine the concentration of Cd were collected. Since the data were not normally distributed, a transformation was required before performing an analysis of variance and Dunnett's multiple comparisons test at 5% significance with InfoStat v. 2018 p software. The results of the initial analysis did not exceed the Environmental Quality Standards (EQS). The treatment (T3) was the one that achieved the greatest amount of total cadmium removal with respect to the initial concentration, presenting significant differences with respect to the control, and achieved 100% efficiency. On the other hand, the control treatment increased its initial value, which could be attributed to climatic factors.
