“Maternal complications associated with severe preeclampsia in pregnant women treated at Hospital II-2 Tarapoto, from January 2020 to December 2021” Severe preeclampsia is a public health problem associated with multiple maternal, fetal and newborn complications. Objective: To identify the factors and maternal complications associated with severe preeclampsia in pregnant women attended at Hospital II-2 Tarapoto, from January 2020 to December 2021. Methodology: A sample of 160 medical records of hospitalized pregnant women from a population of 628 pregnant women with a diagnosis of preeclampsia (population) were studied. The type of study is basic, retrospective, cross-sectional, non-experimental of two groups: A and B, compared using univariate statistics of absolute and relative frequencies. The data collection form was used as an instrument. Bivariate analysis was used for the association between variables. Chi-square was used and the odds ratio and 95% CI were calculated. Significant association was accepted if p< 0.05. Results: 80 pregnant women from group A (severe preeclampsia) and 80 pregnant women from group B were included. The prevalence of pregnant women with preeclampsia was 12.88%. The mean age of group A was 25.66±6.89 years and that of group B was 24.54±6.24 years. The most affected age group was 20 to 24 years (23.8%). The obstetric factors associated with severe preeclampsia were nulliparous (OR= 2.80; 95% CI 1.13-6.91). Maternal complications are: oligohydramnios (OR= 3.842; 95% CI 1.444 - 10.219) and premature rupture of membranes (OR= 4.980; 95% CI 1.361 - 18.226). Conclusions: Maternal complications associated with severe preeclampsia are oligohydramnios and premature rupture of membranes.
