The work in mining is sacrificed and intense, since the worker is subjected to atypical working hours; even more, with the modifications that were experienced by the state of emergency by COVID - 19 the year 2020, which could be related to the frequency rates of accidents within the mining camp. Therefore, the present research aimed to determine the relationship that existed between the working day and the frequency rates of occupational accidents in a mining center in Peru in the years 2019 and 2020. A quantitative approach, non-experimental design, cross-sectional and correlational study was carried out. Documentary analysis was used for data collection. The study population coincided with the sample, which consisted of the number of accidents and working days presented during the years 2019 and 2020. The results showed that, between both variables, there was a significant correlation at a level of 0.01 (Sig.<0.01) and a high correlation coefficient of 0.960 in 2019. Likewise, a significant correlation at a level of 0.05 (Sig.<0.05) and a high correlation coefficient of 0.777 in the year 2020. This leads to the conclusion that both variables are directly related in the years 2019 and 2020. Giving rise to say that, if a working day exceeds 48 hours per week of work, the accident rate will be higher than in a regular working day.
