This investigation evaluates the addition of polystyrene beads in proportions of 2%, 5%, and 10% of the cement weight in the manufacture of load-bearing concrete blocks, using aggregates from the Rubio quarry. The study analyzes the mechanical properties, such as compressive strength, and the acoustic insulation properties of the concrete. The results show that while the polystyrene beads improve acoustic insulation and reduce the concrete's density, they also decrease compressive strength. At 28 days, the control concrete had a compressive strength of 125 Kg/cm², whereas the mixtures with 2%, 5%, and 10% beads had strengths of85 Kg/cm², 55 Kg/cm², and 44 Kg/cm², respectively. Additionally, it was found that water absorption increases with the addition of beads, indicating greater porosity. Despite these challenges, the study proposes that the use of polystyrene beads is viable and sustainable for applications where weight reduction and acoustic insulation are priorities
