The present study titled: NICK Program: strategy to improve reading comprehension in students of the VI cycle of the I.E.P. John Nash's purpose was to determine the progressive improvement in reading comprehension at two of its levels, literal and inferential, through the strategies proposed by Isabel Solé Gallard. The research was pre-experimental, consisting of a single sample group, made up of 25 students belonging to the VI cycle of the I.E.P. John Nash. The work was developed due to the problem observed in reference to the lack of reading comprehension, which led to deficiencies in the interpretation of texts, as well as the response to literal and deductive, inductive and abductive questions as appropriate. On the other hand, a technical card considered the information gathering instrument was applied in the pretest, where it was obtained that 84% presented an initial level and 16% were in process. However, after using a series of strategies that make up the Nick Program, the results of the post-test were obtained, where certain improvements were evidenced: 8% in the process, 40% in an achieved level, and 52% positioned in an outstanding achievement. Thus, given the data analyzed, it was concluded that it is important to pay attention to the student's reading comprehension, since it is well known that this leads to good textual interpretation and, along with it, the good development of oral and written personal expression.
