ABSTRACT The aim of this research was to determine the effect of growth promoting antibiotics (GPA), organic acids (OA) and oregano essential oil (OEO) on the productive parameters, oxidative stability and lipid profile; 160 turkeys were evaluated between males and females of 1 day of age distributed through a completely randomized block design in four treatments. The treatments were: diet with 0.03% GPA (T0), diet with 0.1% OA (T1), diet with 0.01% OEO (T2) and diet with 0.02% OEO (T3), these diets were supplied for 15 weeks. Productive parameters, concentration of malondialdehyde (MDA), total cholesterol (TC) and triglycerides (TG) were determined. For the productive parameters T2 and T3 obtains the greatest weight gain (p < 0.01), while T1 and T2 have the highest feed intake (p> 0.01), finally, T3 obtained the best feed conversion (p < 0.01); In all the productive parameters, the female has lower values compared to the males (p < 0.01). T3 reduced lipoperoxidation in turkey meat, which is related to sex, where the females being more susceptible to lipoperoxidation (p < 0.01). There was no hypocholesterolemic effect in any of the treatments, only a difference between sexes (p < 0.01). The T3 had the lowest concentration of TG (p < 0.01), in addition to the difference between sexes (p < 0.01). However, these factors are not related to each other. In conclusion, OEO is the growth promoter with the greatest effectiveness to improve production parameters, apart the antioxidant effect on meat and reducing blood triglycerides.
