Water quality in natural systems and in particular in inland waters influences the health of aquatic ecosystems as well as the different possible uses of water resources. This thesis evaluated the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of the waters of the Capachique River that are being influenced by the mining and other activities of the area. Eleven samples were taken at three stations along the river during 2016; where it was determined that some parameters evaluated exceed the limits established by the environmental quality standards (ECA) for water; so that the water resource of the Capachique River microcatchment can be used for the production of drinking water and for the conservation of the aquatic environment; At present, this study concludes: 1. According to the physical, chemical and biological characteristics, the water quality of the Capachique river, most parameters are within the limits established by the environmental quality standards (ECA), to be used as drinking water and for the conservation of the aquatic environment. 2. Physico-chemical and biological parameters of water quality that exceeded the maximum allowable value established in the National Environmental Quality standards for MINAM (2017) water were PH, molybdenum, cadmium, cobalt, bismuth, silver, lead , zinc, copper, BOD, SST, CE 3. The non-presence of iconic species in the Capachique river, in all the samplings indicates that this river is contaminated. 4. The black color of the water in the river Capachique, indicate that it is contaminated by informal coal mining.
