Efficient management of municipal solid waste is essential to promote healthy and sustainable environments in communities. In this context, the general objective of this study is to physically characterize the solid waste generated daily by the inhabitants of the El Mirador II sector, located in the district of La Esperanza. The research adopts a quantitative approach with a descriptive nature. A representative sample of 46 houses was selected, to which 20% of contingency samples were added, resulting in a total of 54 houses sampled. The technique used for data collection was the survey. In the preliminary conclusions of this study, it was possible to calculate the per capita generation, obtaining an average of 0.414 kg/person/day, with a Standard Deviation of 0.14357. The validation of this per capita generation was carried out by eliminating data outside the range of reliability, highlighting the specific case of house No. 34. The average density of solid waste in El Mirador II was determined as 182.70 Kg/m³, providing essential information for the planning of public waste storage infrastructure. In addition, it was identified that 51.54% of the waste is organic and 48.46% is inorganic, with additional categorizations revealing 51.54% reusable waste and 15.69% non-reusable waste. The results of the survey also show significant preferences and perceptions of the residents of El Mirador II in relation to the solid waste collection service. Overall satisfaction is high, with 83% of respondents expressing satisfaction with the service, and the preference for daily collection is unanimous among participants.
