The present research is with the objective of proposing an environmental management model based on circular economy to reduce the contamination of PET bottles, based on the D.L. No. 1278 that gives the category of input to solid waste, considered as raw material for industries. The type of research was quasi-experimental descriptive applied with a qualitative-quantitative approach. The sample was taken from a population of 350 915 inhabitants; Being 384 residents and distributed according to their socioeconomic status, high, medium-high and medium, the instrument called a survey was applied that contains 11 questions on handling, management and reuse of solid waste. It was reported that 65% of the people surveyed throw away PET bottles in the household trash; 79% are willing to buy products if they contain PET bottles as raw material and are managed by institutions such as nursing homes and orphanages (72%). In conclusion, the use of plastic waste in construction projects is an economic and environmental alternative, since in addition to avoiding soil and water contamination, it serves as raw material to produce other goods that in turn have other uses.
