The plant species Desmodium molliculum (Kunth) DC. is dispensed in Complementary Medicine of EsSalud and it is used as an anti-inflammatory. The vegetal sample of D. molliculum was identified in the Herbarium Truxillense. Three different batches of D. molliculum were selected and methanolic extracts were made by the maceration method with constant movement for 24 hours. Then, they were analyzed by liquid chromatography and major peaks were detected at 254 and 330 nm. The chemical structure of the majority peak was tentatively identified by UHPLC-MS/MS. Ten secondary metabolites were obtained with the methanolic extract and named with the letters “A” through “J”. It was observed that in the three batches analyzed the peaks and areas were statistically identical. Peak “D” had the largest area in the chromatograms at both absorbances. It was tentatively identified that the “D” signal would correspond to the m/z 431 Vitexin molecule. It is concluded that the chromatographic profiles of the three batches of Desmodium molliculum (Kunth) DC. showed 10 compounds, vitexin being a chemical marker of the genus Desmodium.
