Coffee is one of the crops of high economic importance in Peru due to its high commercialization and export, distributed in different departments of Peru. There are different varieties of coffee, each with its own characteristics, being one of the varieties catimor. Currently, due to its economic importance, coffee production is sought in less time, and because there is irregularity and long germination time, this research aims to determine the effect of gibberellic acid and imbibition time on the germination characteristics of Coffea. arabica L. var. catimor. The biological material came from the San Miguel farmhouse, district of Chirinos - Cajamarca, carrying out the experimental phase in the Biotechnology Laboratory of the Institute of Potato and Andean Crops of the National University of Trujillo. The experimental phase consisted of the application of gibberellic acid at 0; 100 ppm, 200 ppm and 300 ppm with soak times of 0.00; 12:00 and 24:00, using a completely randomized block design. Having as variables the cumulative percentage of germination, finding that at 300 ppm of AG3 a percentage that varies from 50 to 60% and at concentrations of 0 ppm, 100 ppm and 200 ppm a percentage greater than 90%; Regarding the percentage of germination, speed of germination and vitality, in the ANOVA performed no significant difference was found. It is concluded that the use of AG3 at the concentrations used in this research does not influence the germinative characteristics of Coffea arabica L. var. catimor.; in addition to determining that the best imbibition time is 12 hours.
