This thesis aims to design and manufacture a calibrator installer device for measuring the thickness of sprayed concrete on the walls of underground mine tunnels. The research stems from the need of mining companies and contractors to verify the thickness of concrete walls efficiently, safely, and economically, thereby reducing incidents and accidents related to the fall of bench and sprayed concrete—common risks in this activity. The primary question addressed in this research is: What are the benefits for contracting companies and mining units in implementing a device that installs calibrator nails on the concrete walls within tunnels? In response to this question, a device is proposed that attaches to the tip of the arm of one of the most widely used equipment for concrete spraying, known as shotcrete, specifically the Putzmeister ROBOT SPM4210. The device's design considers the working environment, ease of use, material selection, and resistance to aggressive surroundings, resulting in a lightweight, easily transportable, cost-effective, and efficient device for its application.
