The multiculturalism of the El Porvenir district lies in the fact that it houses a population from the various regions of Peru; that when migrating to this area, they bring with them, in addition to their ideologies, their culture, and with it, that ancestral knowledge about the correct and effective use of medicinal flora, which urgently needs to be preserved. In this sense, the present investigation focused on determining the effectiveness of the use of medicinal plants and their influence on the quality of life from the perception of the population of the El Porvenir district, Trujillo, Peru. 96 semi-structured interviews were applied, using the "snowball" technique; achieving an inventory of 79 species of medicinal flora, distributed in 38 genera and 74 families; and where the Asteraceae, Lamiaceae, Fabaceae, as well as the Cucurbitaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Myrtaceae and Solanaceae, turned out to be the most representative due to the number of species they house. In the same way, the settler attributes vital importance, according to his (IVU), to 20 species of flora. In addition, the residents report suffering 58 diseases, grouped into 11 Categories, where the treatment of diseases related to the Systems predominates: digestive and gastrointestinal (FCI=0.75), nervous (FCI=0.74), respiratory (FCI=0.73), cardiovascular ( FCI=0.72), reproductive (FCI=0.71), urinary (FCI=0.70), musculoskeletal (FCI=0.66) and chronic-degenerative diseases (FCI=0.64). It is concluded that the use of medicinal plants in the El Porvenir district presented an effectiveness of 100%; given that it "cured" 56% of the diseases reported by the population and generated relief from the remaining 44% diseases; In the same way, the settler attributes having improved his quality of life by 83.21%.
