The present research, Emotional Intelligence and Academic Performance in students of the 4th year of secondary level in the Area of Person, Family and Person and Human Relations of the Private Educational Institution “Innova School”, in the province of Trujillo; It is basic with a non-experimental, descriptive correlational design. The sample was made up of 86 students of both sexes, who were in the 4th year of high school; The sampling was intentional non-probabilistic. The Baron Test in its full version was used as a data collection instrument for the emotional intelligence variable and for the study of the academic performance variable, the documentary analysis of the report cards. The results of the research show that students enjoy a regular level of emotional intelligence, 80 students oscillate between these levels. The conclusions show that emotional intelligence is significantly related to academic performance in students, indicating that there is a positive and moderate correlation between the variables, that is, the greater the emotional intelligence, the greater the academic performance or vice versa.
