ABSTRACT The objective of this report was to determine glycosylated hemoglobin in outpatients attended at the Quintanilla SRL laboratory, Trujillo during March 2018- March 2019. The laboratory's database system was accessed, taking into account the age group (35 to 70 years age) and the gender of the patients to be studied. The sample consisted of 220 patients between men and women, diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus, whose results were: 60 men (37%), of a total of 168 patients and 8 women (14%) of a total of 58 patients, between the ages of 35 to 70 years requires therapeutic intervention, since glycosylated hemoglobin values exceed 8.00%, while 53 men (33%) of a total of 162 patients and 30 women (52%) of a total of 58 patients between the ages of 35 and 70 it is within the optimal values (6.00% - 7.99). Concluding that out of 220 outpatients treated in the Quintanilla S.R.L laboratory, Trujillo during the period March 2018- March 2019, the majority of male patients require therapeutic intervention. In addition, it was determined that the age of the outpatients treated at the Quintanilla S.R.L laboratory is not associated with gender and that the glycosylated hemoglobin values of the patients are not associated with age. The levels of glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) represent so far the best laboratory test, a great tool in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and control of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
