ABSTRACT The objective of this research is to identify how the empowerment of women impacts the social development of the Sanitation Services Administrative Boards in the district of Poroto, province of Trujillo, in the year 2023. The interest in studies on the importance of Investigating how the gender category is shaped by cultural and historical aspects has not been foreign to interdisciplinary fields such as social sciences, among them, gender anthropology points out that true equality in societies is not achieved through confrontation between men and women, but rather when both appreciate each other and are actively involved in the responsibilities that each has in promoting the social development of their community. Due to the purpose it pursues, this study is classified as applied research since it focuses on addressing a current problem and offers possible solutions to promote female empowerment from an intercultural perspective; and in terms of analysis and results, it is considered explanatory in nature. The techniques used include the interview guide, document analysis and review of records from the Sanitation Services Administrative Board. Interviews were conducted with women members of the Board of Directors and associates. For the analysis of collected data, methods such as ethnographic, statistical, inductive and hypothetical-deductive methods were applied. The sample was made up of 20 female users from the Centro Poblado Dos de Mayo and Chile Alto; being a non-probabilistic sampling for convenience, considering the ease of access, availability and commitment of the participants.
