ABSTRACT The reality of the peruvian rural woman is a pressing concern for science, and specifically Anthropology has the duty to frame its theoretical framework and specific methodologies in the pursuit of knowledge that allows us to comprehend the cultural structures that affect her. The objective is to provide useful insights for innovative solutions to today's problems. In this context, the present study aims to determine the cultural patterns that influence the participation of rural women in Bambamarca. To achieve this, a mixed-method approach with a qualitative tendency was employed. A comprehensive interview questionnaire named “Interview Guide on Cultural Patterns Influencing Rural Women's Participation” was designed and utilized. This questionnaire was administered to thirty rural women who are part of participation spaces in the mentioned district. The results demonstrate an active role of rural women in social programs, producer associations, and formal institution spaces. However, this active role is carried out by a limited group of women, revealing a gap in the participation of rural women. Structural socio-economic aspects intersect with cultural patterns such as gender roles, historical narratives, land tenure limitations, constraints on female empowerment, and other factors that hinder women's participation in local development. The conclusion underscores the necessity of establishing intersectoral mechanisms that aim for a cultural transformation benefiting rural women and their empowerment. This transformation should respect cultural diversity while creating spaces that harness the potential of rural women for comprehensive, inclusive, and equitable local development in Bambamarca.
