The objective of the present investigation was to evaluate the optimization of the densification parameters of the vegetal residues of the castor (Ricinus communis L.) for the generation of energy pellets, such as the compaction pressure, density, friability index, durability and calorific value. The sample was obtained from the residues from castor pruning in the Moche district, Santa Clara sector, coordinates -8,171191ºS, -79,013414ºW and went through the stages of solar drying, cutting, grinding to finally densify 1 gram samples at different pressures and obtain pellets, which were evaluated for their density, calorific value and friability index. Castor tree residues with 10,05% humidity gave an average calorific value of 16,500 MJ / kg. It was compacted at different pressures, the pressure being 147,10 MPa with which the highest density was obtained with the optimum value of 1 133,062 kg / m3, thus generating a calorific value of 18 720,187 MJ / m3. The pellets obtained at this pressure had the highest friability index value of 0,96, which indicates that 96% are original pellets and fractional pellets were produced from 4%. Obtaining castor biomass pellets as a solid and energetic biofuel is viable due to its high calorific value, high density and low humidity, as well as the great availability of the raw material.
