ABSTRACT In the present investigation, the in vitro effect of a shampoo with ethanolic extract of Cinnamomum verum (cinnamon) and bee honey on Malassezia furfur was evaluated. The cinnamon and bee honey shampoo was used in the concentrations 5%, 7.5% and 10%, as a positive control, a 1% Ketoconazole shampoo was used and as a negative control, base shampoo, in addition, as a means of strain growth was used modified Dixon agar and the in vitro effect was determined according to the agar well diffusion - Kirby Bauer method. The inoculum was prepared in equivalence with the McFarland tube N° 5 (15 x 108 CFU / mL) and after inoculation the Petri plates were incubated at 32 °C for 5 days, after which the observation and measurement of the inhibition halos was carried out. The statistical analysis was processed by the ANOVA method, then the post ANOVA: Tukey test was developed, using the statistical program IBM SPSS Statistics 27.0. In the results, the means of the inhibition halos were obtained, where the 10% cinnamon and bee honey shampoo obtained an average of 13.8 mm, at 7.5% obtained 11.5 mm, at 5% obtained 10.10 mm, the positive control obtained 17 mm and the negative control 00 mm. It is concluded that, the higher the concentration of the cinnamon and bee honey shampoo, the greater the growth inhibition of Malassezia furfur and according to the statistical analysis used, significant differences were obtained (p=0.000) at a significance of 0.05, in addition, the post ANOVA: Tukey test was carried out, in which it is shown that all the treatments present statistically significant difference.
