In the city of Iquitos, population growth and economic development have led to a significant increase in environmental noise. This research focused on determining the noise level and evaluating acoustic pollution on a major road, as well as designing and building a low-cost noise measurement system capable of processing sound signals. Procedures based on Peru's Technical Regulation ISO 1996-2, 2021 were employed, and measurements were conducted using a professional sound level meter along 45 blocks at three different times of the day. Additionally, a survey was administered to 370 individuals to assess their perception of the noise. On the other hand, the system utilized components such as a microcontroller, sound sensor with amplification system, micro-SD, and LED screen, to create a device that converts captured sound into electricity for subsequent processing. The results showed that vehicles are the main sources of noise, with average sound levels around 77.5 dB(A). When the built prototype was compared to a professional sound level meter, a standard deviation of ±3.145 decibels was found. A correlation of 43.2% was observed among the evaluated variables, and the Smart Sound system requires adjustments in its configuration or the addition of a potentiometer in the pre-amplification system to obtain more accurate data.
