ABSTRACT Nanoparticles of Mn3O4 were synthesized using the sol-gel method in water and alcohol to assess the effect of NaOH concentration on structural, optical, and morphological properties. Structural and vibrational properties were analyzed through X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and FTIR, while optical properties were evaluated using UV-Vis spectroscopy and photoluminescence. Morphology was assessed through scanning electron microscopy. Among the most significant findings, the synthesis method was a one-step process with a short duration. Structurally, the crystallite size was most affected by the NaOH concentration. Optically, the bandgap width increased with increasing NaOH concentration, along with oxygen vacancies in the structure. Spherical nanoparticles ranging in size from 20nm to 90nm were obtained with no significant effect from NaOH
