The objective of the research was to determine the effect of a diet based on Lupinus mutabilis "tarwi" on the weight and length of Mus musculus Balb/c. Lupinus mutabilis grains were purchased and dried in an oven at 100 degrees Celsius and then crushed until their size was reduced; 100 three-week-old Mus musculus BALB/c weanling mice were used and fed with the corresponding diet until eight weeks. Five experimental groups were formed: Lupinus mutabilis with shell (GCH-C/C), Lupinus mutabilis without shell (GCH-S/C), Lupinus mutabilis + corn (GM+CH), corn (GDM), standard balanced feed (GDE); data of weight, length, hemoglobin were taken; the results were tabulated with an analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey test, both with 95% confidence. The greatest weight and length was obtained by GDE (20,6 ± 1,20 g and 17,78 ± 0,85 cm, respectively); the highest hemoglobin concentration was obtained by GCH-S/C (22,55 ± 3,27 mg/dL) and GCH-C/C (23,54 ± 1,40 mg/dL). It was concluded that the diet that had a greater effect on weight and length was GDE; the diet that presented the greatest effect on the concentration of hemoglobin HCG-C/C and HCG-C/S.
