Tuberculosis is a huge problem of public health and of all infectious diseases, it is the second leading cause of death from an infectious disease worldwide, and it is estimated that one third of the world's population is infected with the bacillus that causes this disease. Therefore, tuberculosis will continue to be an infectious disease that is highly prevalent throughout the world for many years to come, despite the fact that effective treatment has been available for more than 30 years. It has been shown that the main reason for a patient not healing is the lack of adherence to treatment, despite the fact that in all health facilities the ambulatory administration of the treatment is performed in a totally supervised manner. Given this scenario, it is very important to review the effectiveness of antituberculosis therapy at the local level, since compliance with the therapy ensures a cure rate of 96% to 98% in patients who strictly comply with antituberculosis therapy and the WHO recommends a cure rate of not less than 85%. The present study determines the effectiveness of antituberculosis therapy in health facilities of the San Ignacio - Cajamarca Health Network, which reported cases of tuberculosis during 2014. It is a cross-sectional descriptive study, which was based on the retrospective review of the treatment control cards and medical records of all patients who entered the program of people affected by tuberculosis during the study period. All the information on the location of the disease, the patient's admission condition, associated pathologies, patient's discharge condition, contact control and tuberculosis treatment monitoring, was collected in the Standardized Format, which was validated by opinion of experts. It was determined that the incidence of tuberculosis during 2014 was 24 people per 100,000 inhabitants, almost twice as compared to 2015, with an incidence of 13 people per 100,000 inhabitants and greater than in 2016, since an incidence of 18 cases per 100,000 inhabitants was reported. The effectiveness of antituberculosis therapy in the San Ignacio Health Network, during 2014 was 78% (18 cases) and is below the percentage of tuberculosis cure recommended by WHO, which is 85%. 22% (5 cases) of the cases that entered the program in 2014 were diagnosed as dropout, deceased and not evaluated.
