ABSTRACT The investigation that was carried out in the district of Milagro, province of Trujillo, Department of La Libertad; with the objective of evaluating the effect of the addition of a natural growth promoter on the productive response of the (coturnix coturnix) quail in the laying stage. 720 quail of 8 weeks of age were used in this study. They were distributed in a DCA with three treatments and five repetitions; T0: base diet with APC zinc bacitracin 0.05% and without PNC and, T1: base diet with 0.05% of PNC, without APC and T2: base diet with 0.03% PNC, without APC. Significant statistical differences (P˂0.01) were determined for egg production, with T2 treatment being 660.3 higher than the others, which resulted in 648.1 for T0 and 654.2 for T1. In the percentage of posture it was found that T2 achieved the maximum percentage with 75.1%, followed by T1 74.4% and finally T0 73.3%, having found significant statistical differences (p <0.05). In the results of the feed conversion, it was similar being for the T2 treatment of 2.97; then T0 and T1 with 2.96, no statistical differences being found (P = 0.45). It was observed that the quail egg weights according to treatment were 11.95 g for T0, 11.99 g for T1 and 11.92 g for T2, with no statistical differences (P> 0.05) between treatments. The weight of the quail was 148.73 g for T0, 148.79 g for T1 and 148.74 g for T2 being similar for all treatments. The mortality rate in this study was 1.80% for T0, 1.40% for T1 and 1.10% for T2 although the Chi square test for the mortality percentage; with a value of P = 0.53, it indicates that there are no statistical differences between treatments. From the results obtained it can be concluded that the natural growth promoter can efficiently replace the antibiotic growth promoter.
