ABSTRACT The present research work was developed between the months of october of year 2019 until february 2020, with the objective of knowing the performance and quality of Lycopersicum esculentum L. Var. Rio Grande with systems of tutored and pruned in phytotoldos of the Sierra Liberteña in the hamlet of Cashan, Santiago de Chuco, La Libertad. The results obtained were: in number of clusters / plant the highest average obtained was in those plants without tutors or pruning. In number of flowers / cluster; number of fruits / plants and fruits / cluster; by weight of fruits; and yield in Kg / plant the highest average obtained was in those plants with tutors and pruning. The days after the first harvest were 178 days in both systems, taking into account the red color of the fruit. The yield per has been estimated according to the results was significantly higher in plants with guardians and pruning obtaining a value of 121TM which was higher than the 93TM that was obtained in plants without guardians or pruning. Regarding quality, the equatorial diameters of the fruits were evaluated, obtaining a maximum average of 58.6 mm in fruits of plants with tutors and pruning, placing them in the second category of the Escobar and Lee classification table, while in fruits of plants without tutors or pruning, only a maximum average of 54mm was obtained, placing it in the third category. The cost of tomato production with tutoring and pruning systems was S / .353.1 higher than that of tomato without tutoring and pruning, which was S.259.5, but in the same way, a better net production profit was obtained, which indicates that Tomato planting is profitable with guardian systems and pruning under phytoldos from the Sierra Liberteña. It is concluded that the tomato sowing with tutoring and pruning systems under the phytoldo show the best results according to the variables studied.
