ABSTRACT The objective of this research work is to analyze the efficiency of public investment in the provision of sanitation services in the La Esperanza district, Trujillo, La Libertad; For which 03 indicators are used: public investment in sanitation, the number of beneficiaries who access the drinking water service and the number of beneficiaries who access the sanitary sewer service in the La Esperanza district, during the 2008 period - 2018. Through a Free Diposal Hull Analysis (FDH), an Efficient Production Frontier was developed; in which it was possible to determine in which years of the study period public investment was efficient in the provision of sanitation services. The results show that only 38.74% of the total budget was executed, benefiting only 40.96% of the assigned residents. Regarding access to the drinking water service, the years 2009, 2012 and 2016 are highlighted as the most efficient of the period, since a good level of expenditure execution was achieved, the access gap to the service was reduced and no cost overruns. Likewise, for the sanitary sewer service, the years 2008, 2012, 2014 and 2016 stand out, in which good use of resources was made, reaching great levels of progress in terms of service provision.
