The conceptual design of an Electric Generation Plant (PEC) has been investigated and analyzed using the petcoke produced from the Flexicoking unit (FCK) as raw material, which would allow the net obtaining of 11,68 Megawatts (MW) of electrical energy from 5300 kilograms. per hour (kg/h) of the same, said electrical energy would be available to be used in the Refinery itself or in the province of Talara. This result is an estimate supported by the mass and energy balance analysis, which for the gasification and treatment sections of hot high sulfur gases was carried out in an MS Excel spreadsheet to have complex chemical reactions not modeled in the simulators. . of business processes, the section of electricity generation and steam production were simulated in business processes. Different investigations and publications have been analyzed and used, where the Caldereyta Nuevo León refinery project, Mexico, has been located, as well as the evaluation for the installation of an electricity production plant using petcoke as fuel, Venezuela; which would produce electricity from gasifying petcoke. Likewise, AACE recommendation 18R-97 has been used, which indicates the articles that must be developed on a technical basis, for a Class 4 cost estimate (Study or Feasibility); such as execution schedule, work development structure (WDS), block diagrams, plant location, process diagrams, auxiliary services diagram, heat and material balance, equipment list, equipment list for auxiliary services, specifying of equipment and equipment arrangement plan. It is also worth remembering that the Plant consumes auxiliary services such as water for boilers, amine for sulfur gas treatment and others; that the Talara Refinery would produce, so the location of PEC should not be too far from it.
