This research aimed to pictorially evaluate the carnival of the Totos community. Called "puckllay toteño," through an oil painting. The painting followed a costumbrista approach, characterized by the realistic representation of everyday scenes, highlighting the traditions and representative figures that unconditionally participate in these festivities. The research was conducted under a qualitative and hermeneutic approach, analyzing the cultural meanings of the images represented in the work. A practical and experimental approach was also adopted, in which the creative process with materials and pictorial techniques contributed to the understanding of cultural identity, later to be analyzed from its compositional elements. The purpose was to make the anonymous characters of the festival visible, who are often ignored in historical accounts but are essential for social and community life. The carnival, as a cultural expression, represents a symbol of identity, belonging, and resistance in Andean communities, as the essence of these places preserves ancestral traditions and transmits knowledge to new generations. Moreover, the carnival fosters social cohesion by bringing community members together in a common act that eliminates social differences and reinforces collective memory. The result of this research aims to highlight the relevance of the carnival as a fundamental part of the cultural identity of Totos, belonging to the Ayacucho region.
