In recent years, the main roads in Lima have been affected by the increase in heavy vehicular flow. Because of this, the road infrastructure is subjected to higher loads that cause the early or greater appearance of phenomena such as permanent deformation and fatigue failure. This fact shows that the design methodology used is not capable of combating these failures. For this reason, this work evaluates the permanent deformation and fatigue failure of asphalt mixtures modified with glass macrofibers. First, four asphalt mixtures are designed according to the Marshall method: a conventional mixture and three mixtures with the addition of 0.20%, 0.60% and 0.80% glass macrofibers. The mixtures were tested in the laboratory to obtain their mechanical properties. Then, a Marshall Stability and Flow test model is created in ANSYS to configure the characteristics of each mixture. Finally, the permanent deformation and fatigue failure of the mixtures are determined using a numerical model of a wearing course subjected to loads. The results indicate that mixtures with the addition of glass macrofibers increased stability by approximately 40%, while flow was reduced by 42%. On the other hand, permanent deformation and fatigue failure were reduced by 54% and 43% respectively. This proves that the incorporation of glass macrofibers has a positive effect on the composition of the asphalt mixture, with 0.60% being the most suitable content.
