The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between previous knowledge in quantum physics and the academic performance of students in the seventh and ninth cycle of engineering at the Scientific University of Peru, Loreto-2023. Likewise, the research had a quantitative approach. The design of the present work was non-experimental, and the design was descriptive-cross-sectional. In addition, the population was delimited by seventh and ninth cycle students of the Faculty of Engineering of the Scientific University of Peru, whose sample was obtained using the sampling design for finite populations in a non-random way, remaining at 162 students. The data were collected using a survey, with the questionnaire of questions as the data collection tool. Thus, according to the results it was observed that among the students the previous knowledge in quantum physics had a "regular" level (35.2%) and those who were approved were in 51.9% in the engineering career of the Scientific University of Peru. For all these reasons, it was concluded that the relationship between previous knowledge in quantum physics and the academic performance of the students of the seventh and ninth cycle engineering subjects of the Scientific University of Peru, in Loreto during the 2023rd year was expressed as a very strong correlation (rho = ,806**).
