This research work addressed the problem of Non-compliance with the standard of the curing process of the witnesses of concrete in the Works. Specifically, it is a practice of preparing the specimens inside the steel molds without proper sealing that prevents the leakage of the exudation water. The present work focuses on this problem at the level of the Loreto region, using cement-sand concrete, a material that consists of a mixture of cement, fine aggregate from the area and wáter. Coarse aggregate is not used, which is a very common practice in the region. Standard ASTM C31 indicates in point 4.1 that the molds for the preparation of cores must be impermeable to prevent the leakage of water from the mixture. In the case of standard steel molds, they must have a type of sealant in the joints for this purpose, which in practice in Loreto is not carried out. The investigation consisted of elaboration of three mixtures. From each mixture, the concrete witnesses were prepared in completely impermeable plastic molds and together with them, witnesses were made in permeable steel molds without any type of sealing. The results showed a higher compressive strength in the samples made in permeable steel molds. It was concluded that the manufacture of witnesses in the molds that present some degree of permeability increase the results of the compressive strength tests.
