The present study was aimed at solving the following research problem: ¿What is the prevalence of microalbuminuria in diabetic patients who attended the biochemistry laboratory of Hospital III Iquitos Essalud from January to December 2020? The research objective was: To determine the prevalence of microalbuminuria in diabetic patients who attended the biochemistry laboratory of Hospital III Iquitos Essalud from January to December 2020. Material and methods: This research is quantitative and retrospective, with a non-experimental, descriptive design. We worked with a sample of 3266 patients who underwent the test to determine the concentration of microalbuminuria in the biochemistry laboratory at Hospital III Iquitos EsSalud from January to December 2020. For the analysis of the information, the statistical package was used of SPSS V.24. Results: The prevalence of microalbuminuria was 31.08%, the most frequent age was between 45 to 54 years with 378 (11.57%), the most frequent sex was female with 568 (17.39%) and less frequently was male with 171 (13.69%), according to origin, a higher frequency was observed with 506 (15.49%) from the urban area. Conclusions: The relevance of quantitative microalbuminuria tests in the control of diabetes is important to prevent the progression of complications to kidney disease, because this type of test is much more specific and reliable than qualitative tests.
