Our study carried out corresponds to a quantitative-descriptive investigation in a probabilistic sample of 57 students, that is, 23 students from IE N°60119 San José, Río Itaya in the district of Belén and 52 students from IEPPS “Rosa Agustina Donayre from Morey”, from the district of Iquitos, province of Maynas, Loreto region. The research was basic, descriptive level. The sample was made up of 57 students from the 5th year of secondary school from both educational institutions; for this, the survey technique was used with its instrument, the questionnaire. In the cognitive dimension, it can be seen that in both educational institutions (rural and urban), the level of knowledge is good, that is, the rural EI is 78.26% and the urban EI is 80.77%, the latter being the highest. Followed by the regular level in the rural area of 17.39% and in the urban area of 17.31%. And the percentage of deficient is 4.35% y 1.92% rural and urban areas respectively. And in the behavioral dimension in reference to environmental awareness of both educational institutions (rural and urban), the level of behavior with respect to environmental awareness is good. As can be seen, there is a significant difference, in this dimension having 73.91% in the rural school and 46.15% in the urban school. Similarly, a negative attitude of 17.39% can be seen in the rural area compared to 23.08% in the urban area, which is higher.
