Introduction: Acute respiratory infections are the main cause of disease in the pediatric population nationwide; being a main pillar of promotion and prevention the level of knowledge and preventive attitude that mothers have, impacting on the prevalence and severity of IRAs. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge and preventive attitude about acute respiratory infections of the mothers of two AHHs in the city of Iquitos Methodology: A quantitative, observational, cross-sectional, prospective correlational design study was carried out, surveying 200 mothers with children under 5 years of age from two AAHH in the city of Iquitos; applying two instruments to evaluate the level of knowledge and preventive attitude, each of 20 questions according to the Likert scale, being processed with the SPSS version 2 5.0 software. Results: 58.5% of the mothers presented a high level of knowledge about IRAs and 30.1% had a significant level related to maternal age (p=0.000), level of education (p=0.000) and number of children (p=0.008); 72.0% presented an adequate preventive attitude and 28% had an inadequate preventive attitude; was related to the mother's age (p=0.016), level of education (p=0.002) and number of children (p=0.04); the level of knowledge significantly influences (p=0.000) on the preventive attitude. Conclusion: The mothers of the AAHH have a high level of knowledge and adequate preventive attitude about THE IRAs, both are significantly related and are influenced by the dad, level of education and number of children.
