The objective of this research was to determine the use of social networks in the consumption behavior of generation Z, as well as to point out the problem of overconsumption of internet and technology, the impact of social networks and the valuation of their contents. Its methodology was descriptive, non-experimental and cross-sectional, with a population formed by young people of the so-called generation Z, and a sample of 384 of them; to whom a survey was applied. It concludes that with the data obtained from the respondents belonging to this generation, all of them claim to use the Internet and that 36.2% spend an average of 6 hours a day on social networks, evidencing an overconsumption of Internet and technology. In addition, the influence of the information they observe on social networks to decide a purchase is high with a percentage of 95.1%. Also, with a percentage of 45.8%, they affirm that the influence of celebrities or influencers is enough when choosing a product or service. Finally, it could be evidenced that this generation highly values the quality of the product or service offered through social networks with a percentage of 57%.
