The research work aims to determine the type of relationship between dysfunctional families and school dropout in students of 5th grade of secondary school in the educational institution - Iquitos- 2019 The study population is constituted by the fifth grades in a total of 128 students and the study sample is made up of 97 adolescents of 16 years which was determined through sampling proportions. The type of research is quantitative and correlational descriptive design, with questionnaire survey techniques and instruments, observation guide and documentary research record; They have been applied to the students that make up the sample under study. Once the instrument has been applied, the results of: the causes of dropping out in students are closely linked to the hypotheses raised. If there is dropout then there is a cause to determine student dropout in the HEI under study. The causes of attrition are in levels; or high, or medium, or low. Coming to the conclusion that there is a high degree of correlation between dysfunctional families and school dropout, in fifth grade students in the educational institution - Iquitos during the 2019 academic year, as indicated by the correlation of 0.815 (81.5 %)
