The estimation of the natural scour for the future Punchana artisanal pier was carried out in the Punchana district, Maynas province, on the Itaya River, a very complicated study area due to the proximity of interaction between Itaya and Amazon rivers, which They are only 1.5 km apart, added to the abysmal difference in the volumes of both rivers, it was determined that the average flow of Itaya River only represents 0.7% of the Amazon River, which causes the entry of the latter over the mouth of Itaya. The type of pier proposed is a pontoon type. Three scour estimation methods were used: Maza, Lischtvan – Lebediev and Straub. Likewise, the granulometric analysis of bottom sediments was carried out in the axis of the river jetty with a diameter of 0.0156 mm, complemented with the bathymetry of the area of direct influence, sectioning for flows at 500 m upstream and downstream of the main axis. ADCP was used to determine cross sections, discharge and flows, as well as a single-beam echo sounder for bathymetry in study area. For design flows, we worked with return periods of 50 and 100 years of the levels of the Itaya River. From the results obtained, with the Maza & Echevarría method it was a maximum of 1.27 m, compared to the Litschvan - Lebediev method that has a maximum scour of 17.75 m and that of Straub 5.28 m, although the study area is subject to processes of sedimentation dominated and modulated by the great Amazon River that interacts with Itaya River, making the flow subcritical, which is why none of the formulas used are visibly close to reality; however, the safety aspect predominates for the design. It was decided to choose Straub's method as the undermining process for the investigation.
