Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a health problem due to its disease burden and disability that occurs through late manifestations, a good adherence to treatment allows a control and reduction of late manifestations that has an impact on morbidity and health costs. Objective: Determine the factors associated with adherence to oral drug treatment of diabetic patients at EsSALUD hospital, Iquitos – 2020 Matherial M and methods: The study is quantitative, observational, crosscutting, prospective, correlational design, interviewing 168 type 2 diabetic patients who are treated in one month at EsSALUD Hospital. Applying the Morisky-Green adhesion test. Results: 168 diabetic patients were surveyed, with predominance between the ages of 40 and 59, female (53.0%), secondary education (59.5%) with disease time of 5 to 9 years (38.1%), 45.2% with late manifestation, with diabetic neuropathy predominating; 34.5% sometimes attend the program. 28.6% of diabetic patients are adherent to oral pharmacological treatment, adherence was influenced by an older patient age (p-0.042), with a better level of instruction (p-0.009); longer sickness time (p-0.035), the presence of late manifestations (p-0.031); to monthly or quarterly program attendance (p0.034) Conclusion: Diabetic patients at Hospital III Iquitos de EsSALUD do not have a good adherence to oral pharmacological treatment, and should establish adequate health promotion by the CAP program.
