The purpose of the investigation was to determine the influence of the consumption of psychotropic substances with the academic performance in the students of the fourth and fifth of secondary school of the Educational Institution "Rosa Agustina Donayre de Morey", Iquitos district, Maynas province and Loreto region, year 2019. The research corresponds to the quantitative type and is based on the hypothetical-deductive study method. The population consisted of 313 students from the fourth and fifth year of secondary school of the I.E. “Rosa Agustina Donayre de Morey”, in the city of Iquitos, a stratified random sample was used, the sample being 111 students. The technique was survey and observation. The data collection instrument used was the questionnaire for the use of psychotropic substances and the observation sheet for academic performance. For data processing, the SPSS v23 statistic was used, obtaining the following results: Regarding the variable consumption of psychotropic substances, 100.0% showed a low consumption of psychotropic substances. Variable academic performance, 56.8% of the students were promoted to a degree, 39.6% require pedagogical recovery and 3.6% remain in the degree. It is concluded: The consumption of psychotropic substances significantly influences the academic performance of fourth and fifth year high school students from the “Rosa Agustina Donayre de Morey” Educational Institution, Iquitos district (Rho = -0.225; mean negative correlation).
