The main purpose of this study is to establish the optimal percentage of replacement of expanded clay with coarse aggregate in concrete with resistance f'c = 210 kg/cm2. This concrete will be subjected to high temperatures to subsequently evaluate its compressive strength and determine if the presence of expanded clay improves this mechanical property. The crushed stone will be replaced with expanded clay in proportions of 10%, 15% and 20%. The process began with the evaluation of the properties of the natural aggregates, to carry out the mix design and then prepare the samples of the standard concrete and the altered concrete. The test that was carried out on both the witnesses exposed and not exposed to fire was the compressive strength after 14 and 28 days of the hardening process. It was determined that as the percentage of expanded clay increases when the coarse aggregate is replaced, the reduction in the compressive strength of the concrete exposed to high temperatures is attenuated, which is why the appropriate percentage was 20% expanded clay with a reduction of 7.11. % when burned for 30 min and 10.46% after 60 min of exposure to fire.
