The main objective of this research is to perform a seismic analysis of a four-story self-built house with confined masonry in Urb. Las Praderas in the district of Lurin, Lima. The choice of this area is based on the characteristics of the soft soil type, which amplifies seismic waves, increasing the impact on existing buildings. The house under analysis has King Kong brick walls on the second floor (partition walls and load-bearing walls), while the upper floors (2, 3 and 4) were built entirely with tambour-type bricks. The seismic analysis, both static and dynamic, revealed the presence of irregularities in plan and height, mainly along the X axis, attributable to the low density of walls in that direction. However, the drifts remained within the limits allowed by current regulations. In order to improve the structural resistance of the self-built house in the X axis and reduce the irregularities detected, a structural reinforcement was designed and implemented by means of a reinforced concrete plate, strategically located near the center of mass of the construction. Finally, the seismic analysis of the house with the structural reinforcement was repeated, obtaining favorable results, such as a significant reduction in drifts and structural irregularities.
